Quite possibly one of THE stupidest gaming ideas i've ever seen. Not only has midway been promising a 'new' mortal kombat with completely reworked everything, they go and bring something like this out.

One of the first problems? Almost ALL of the violence has been toned down, it's more of a bizarro fighter mash-up now. My other problem? It's still using the same old ugly as heck character animations that have been in the MK series since the beginning of time.

Now for the good. The new graphics are pretty nice and gritty, and the in air battles is a cool little idea.

It just isn't what i expected it to be. And throwing in DC doesn't make any sense. Almost as stupid as Soul Cali throwing in yoda and darth.

the real reason I'm looking forward to this game is to settle a score with a friend of mine. We have a bit of a debate on who would win between batman and liu kang

you were one of those people that never exceeded at arts & crafts as a kid huh? have a little imagination Dude, its not the game in itself but the concept. if your not interested in comic books or was able to enjoy the first installments of the mortal kombat series in your childhood its probally gonna miss you. yes, I am a bit upset that DC is being merged with mortal kombat seeing how the latest mortal combat installments have had the worst combat system since....killer instinct 1?? the fact that they changed up the fatality system also seems to bother me seeing how thats pretty much what MK is known for

But still, seeing childhood icons collide together in a gritty power struggle is enough to get me excited about it. In the end its not going to be a high paced combat system thats going to get people to buy the game. its going to be wierdo retards like me who just want to choke slam the shiz out of super man with scorpion, or run laps around lord raiden with the flash. Its sort of like DBZ budokai when it first came out for PS2. everyone knew the game sucked but it was still on your christmas list, you just wanted to pick your favorite DBZ character and battle it out.

Believe me, i've got an imagination. I'm just having a hard time figuring out why they'd pair 2 completely opposite character lists into one giant orgy of shite. The MK series has been complete crap since MK3. And this just seems like some last ditch effort to bring SOME light back to it. But instead of completely reworking the entire series + gameplay (and we all know they sure as hell need new gameplay), they opted for a lame ass gimmick instead.

Not to mention, they have to completely dumb down the violence now (which was always MK's selling point), as to not offend the DC audience. I'm not sure about you, but that just sounds like a stupid idea to me.

very true, but like I said, people are still going to buy the game anyways. It's just like every half baked, "lets make a quick buck", movie game they dish out. Their fan bases is big enough for people to keep buying installment after installment, even if the game is crap. speaking of repetitive half baked installments, how about that dynasty warriors 6? I here their really changing things up this go around. Instead of square, its now going to be the "O" button your going to be pressing over and over again throughout the whole game.....-_-...whoop whoop.

as much as i LOVED MVC2, i just couldn't get by its horrid jazzy music (it's just not my style). so half the time i had the game on mute (or would listen to my own stuff)

Whaaaaa???? Well thats your preference. I loved MvC2's BGM actually. I loved when the chorus would hit and I'd Photon Cannon my opponent...Ahhh...memories...
